This loving call of our Lord Jesus reminds us that children are very dear to Him. Yet, as parents, we sometimes fail to bring our children closer to Christ. Too often, we give greater priority to academics, sports, and worldly activities, while neglecting the spiritual nourishment that their souls need. Scripture teaches us: “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” (Mark 8:36).
As parents, it is our God-given duty to help our children grow in faith. The Word of God instructs us: “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6). We are called to acknowledge Christ’s invitation and encourage our children to spend more time with Him—learning His teachings, loving His Church, and drawing inspiration from the lives of the saints. Dear parents, may we never hinder our little ones from meeting Christ.
Instead, may we echo the words of Joshua: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15). Through this small effort, we hope to answer the questions that arise in young hearts about faith and the Church, and to inspire them to follow Jesus joyfully. For when children are rooted in Christ, they will be like the wise man who built his house on the rock (Matthew 7:24–25), standing firm against the storms of life.
These short stories are shared to help children grow in good values and to gently answer some of the questions that come up in their little hearts about Jesus, faith, and the Church.
