All Glory To God

It was Mama’s birthday, and Maria wanted to surprise her. She worked very hard to make a beautiful birthday card. She drew flowers, used bright colors, and wrote a loving message to show how thankful she was for her mother. At the end of the card Maria wrote:
“Mom, I am so grateful to the universe for giving me such a wonderful mother.”

She quietly placed the card beside her mother’s bed so Mama would see it as soon as she woke up. When Mama woke up, she smiled as she read the card. Maria waited happily from behind the door, hoping for a big hug. But to her surprise, Mama called out her brother, “Xavier! Thank you son for this lovely card!” and hugged him instead. Maria ran in, feeling sad.  “Mom,” she said, “that’s not fair! I made the card. You didn’t see my name. I feel hurt.”

Mama hugged Maria gently and said, “I understand why you feel upset. You put your effort and love into something, and it matters and hurts when the right person is not recognized and thanked.”

Then Mama added, “Think about this: just as it felt wrong when someone else got credit for your work, isn’t it also wrong when we give thanks to something else for what God has done?” She opened her Bible and read: ‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father.’ (James 1:17)

Mama continued, “God gave you life. God gave you a family. God gave you a mother. Nature is beautiful, but God is the Creator of nature.” The Bible says: ‘In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.’ (Genesis 1:1)

Maria thought for a moment and said, “People call God by different names, and some regard it as Nature.”

Mama smiled and replied, “We always respect people, but as Christians we also hold on to the truth. God is not part of creation—He is the Creator.” She read another verse: ‘I am the Lord, and there is no other.’ (Isaiah 45:5)

Then Mama spoke softly, “God showed His greatest love by sending His Son, Jesus.” She read: ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son.’ (John 3:16) “And Jesus loved us so much that He gave His life for us,” Mama said. ‘Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.’ (John 15:13)

Mother concluded, “We must always respect people of different beliefs. But respect does not mean pretending all beliefs are equally true. As Christians, we believe truth matters, and that God fully revealed Himself in Jesus Christ, and that faith shapes our choices, our love for others, and our gratitude to God.”

Maria smiled and said,
“I understand now. We must thank God first, but how do I know that what I believe is true?”

Mama hugged both children and said, “Christian faith invites testing:

  • Jesus lived in real history.
  • His life, death, and resurrection were witnessed and recorded.
  • His teachings are consistent, meaningful, and life-changing.
  • The Church has preserved and examined these truths for centuries.
  • This is why Christianity is not “blind faith.” It is faith supported by reason, history, and lived experience.”

Remember My Dear

  • God is our Creator and loving Father
  • Nature is God’s creation, not God
  • Jesus shows us God’s greatest love
  • We respect others, but we stay faithful to the truth

Always give thanks to God, who loves us first.

Prayer:
